Nicolas Jebran fashion inspired New Year’s Eve Dress!

Nicolas Jebran’s designs are cutting edge yet classic; his dresses flow with movement. Sydney and I were looking at his Winter 2014 collection when we both were drawn to the same dress, although neither Sydney nor I can purchase the dress for New Year’s Eve we can create an inspired fashion fondant and royal icing cookie.

Fashion inspired cakes and cookies have become popular for weddings and other special occasions. In honor of both Nicolas Jebran and New Year’s eve I have prepared a video showing you how we recreated an inspired  Nicolas Jebran Haute Couture dress on a sugar cookie.

You will need one right triangle cookie for each dress cookie you construct. I used a square cutter and cut the raw dough square in half, if you don’t have the correct square size you may cut the dough by hand.

Mix 50/50 fondant/gumpaste (flower paste) until amalgamated.

To achieve the blue for the dress

Mix 1/2 toothpick of royal blue (Wilton),1/4 toothpick of electric blue (Americlor), and 1/8 toothpick of ruby red. Knead the colour until the blue is achieved.

Roll the 50/50 paste and place in a pasta machine to #5, if you don’t have a pasta machine roll by hand until tissue paper thin.

It is important you assemble the dress off the cookie, it is easier to make changes.

Wait several hours prior to painting the royal icing.
