I have been blessed with so many of my readers enjoying my Purple Passion Fondant High Heel Shoe tutorial and requesting if I would create a video. I have put this video tutorial together, with the help of both Sydney and D.F. With Halloween upon us I thought it would be fun to to create a Halloween platform stiletto, the toe piece is a bat and the heel has a bat on the back too. The fondant heel can be created with any of my toe templates and of course all the templates are available here. The tutorial video will show separate methods to creating the high heel, one I mould the heel myself and one is a pre-made mould, either method will give you a brilliant high heel shoe.
This past weekend I was invited by CO/WY ICES Fall DOS to give a demonstration on this shoe, it was pleasure and an honor.
Wicked Red Fondant Platform High Heel Shoe:

Materials:
- 1-White cake recipe, for the shoe box
- Fondant: black, red, and ivory..or your colour choice
- Black petal dust
- Everclear
- Tylose powder
- Edible glue
- Crisco
I used red colored fondant rather than coloring the fondant myself; to create the vibrant red I wanted for the platform stiletto I would have had to use a plethora of food paste and my fondant would be too sticky and floppy to use.
Also when I give the direction for the ivory piece that lays upon the front of the heel I give the measurements in millimeter, the measurement should be in centimeters.
The video tutorial is broken into three sections:
The heel, the sole, and the constructions. I have gone to great length to be as informative as possible, but if you have any question please leave me comment, so I maybe able to help!
The High Heel:
You will want to wait at least 24 hours before continuing. The stronger your heel is the less likely it is to buckle under the weight of the rest of the shoe. Remember to paint your toe tap black or tan.
The Sole:
I find my shoes look more realistic if after I apply the heel to the sole I wait another 24 hours before finishing and constructing the shoe.
Constructing the Shoe:
I place my fondant platform high heel on a cake carved into a shoebox shape; 13x 8×4. You will need four layers, 13x 8 -inches. The filling in my shoebox is a lemon curd.
I hope this video tutorial inspires you to create some wonderful and fun platform high heels.
Enjoy!
