While having a girl’s day out with Sydney, we noticed a cake in the window of Hyde Park Jewelers, that appeared to be inspired by Vera Wang. Her spatular ruffle dresses are beautifully breathtaking, romanic and classy; which is the perfect inspiration for cake decorating (and cookie decorating). I wanted to create a sugar cookie frame that incorporated Vera Wang’s talent.
The next day I sat down with a pad of paper, the photo of the cake, and pencil. It took a few hours to incorporate the ruffles with the sugar cookie frame style until I was satisfied. The design in the back was literally a happy accident. Both sugar cookie frames are two sugar cookies, the top with an egg shaped hole, one is covered in fondant and the other is royal icing. The picture for the frame is a hand painted blossom. Perfect for an Easter basket or a Easter table favor.
Ruffle Rose Sugar Cookie Frame:

- Mini rolling pin
- 3/8 angle artistic brush
- Script brush
- Shell tool, PME
- Foam pad
- Plastic film mat, to place extra fondant strips
- Water brush
- Cornet
- Painters Palate, optional
- Foam plate
- Cocktail sticks or toothpicks
Materials:
- 1-recipe Bobbieโs Saffron Sugar Cookie, for 6 extra large frames
- 2 Large Egg shaped sugar cookies, per frame
- Fondant, Satin Ice
- Ice blue food paste, SF
- Super white food paste
- Piping gel,CK in tube
- Water
ย To achieve the light blue painted flower mix ice blue with super white, stir with a cocktail stick or toothpick, and load more white on the toe of the brush (about 3/4th down).
You will want the back of the frame, where the painted flowers are, to be covered with a lighter blue fondant or royal icing.
While I was recording Ruffle Rose Sugar Cookie Frame I realized the two roses with ruffles on the side was quite elegant and I decided to leave as is.
To finish the cookie I added blue royal icing beads as a boarder.
